Ibanez GA6CE-AM-2Y-01 Acoustic-Electric Reviews 4

Primarily a singer, I've been playing guitar for about 10 years, been in a band (drummer!), and have continued to record and play with other musicians on a non-professional basis. My styles range from folk to hard rock, with heavy power-pop leanings -- Big Star, not Green Day.

I bought this guitar at Guitar Center in Hollywood for $249.

I've played many classical guitars in my time and none of them has ever felt comfortable, because I'm weaned on Martin and Taylor acoustic guitars as well as Gibson electrics, and most classical guitars have too wide and flat a neck. This Ibanez' dimensions felt instantly at home, and the cutaway allows for much better playing comfort. The sound is nice enough, with the added bonus of a built-in pickup.

It doesn't stay in tune particularly well, even though I don't play hard. I can imagine this issue would be compounded if the guitar were played by a Latin player who hits hard and plays more complex material. For my purposes, though, it's not a big deal.

Quite good. The guitar looks good and doesn't feel cheap, and the fingerboard feels nice.

As with most of its acoustic guitars, Ibanez has a winner here. For a casual nylon-string player like me, the low price, good construction and unusually inviting feel are perfect. After years of looking for a decent classical guitar, this one fit the bill.
